If you’re an online business who uses Paypal as their third party payment processor, there is a danger lurking which could cost you dearly. Know as instant bank transfer, this option lets buyers withdraw money direct from their bank account, to pay for goods or services they have bought. According to Paypal, it’s exactly what it says, “instant”, but beware, because it’s far from instant! Let’s just say you sell watches on eBay, and you wake up one morning to find that someone has bought an expensive watch for £120, you check your Paypal account to see the money has been put into it, and there it is, clear as day “Payment Completed”.

What was supposed to be instant has taken around six days, you’ve sent the goods off, and are now out of pocket.

Fortunately for you, the buyer has received an email asking to clear their negative account within 60 days (60 days!!) or they will be suspended from using Paypal, and has made a payment using a credit card, which goes straight to your account and sorted this ugly mess out within minutes. But, what if the buyer sat back and thought about not paying, what if they weren’t bothered if they used Paypal again? What if they couldn’t meet the payment due to some unfortunate incident?

Here’s what probably would happen:

The seller contacts the buyer to arrange payment, and the buyer can’t get the money together, he doesn’t want to send the goods back, and asks for a delay in payment, promising that they will pay you at the end of the month. You wait and wait, no payment. In the meantime Paypal has suspended the buyers Paypal account, so now they can’t even make a payment even if they wanted to, unless they post a cheque or postal order to somewhere in Ireland! That would probably take another week or so to reach your account, and of course, you might not even get paid at all! Your £120 down, minus an expensive watch, and furious with Paypal for letting this happen, and you know what, there is absolutely nothing much you can do about it!!

You see Paypal isn’t a bank, and it’s not covered by any banking laws, they can do what they want, when they want, how they want, to a certain degree. All Paypal allows users to do, is pass money on from one person to another, electronically, and with millions of people using it, its obviously a trusted company.

I’ve got a great quote for you, probably made by a gambler: “Do your worrying before you place your bet, NOT after the wheel starts turning.”

I thought that this was a great quote. Especially for you and I as netrepreneurs! We are the brave ones that decide to venture off to the horizon in search for a lifestyle that is uncommon and do not depend on anyone else (bosses) to sign our paychecks! Unfortunately, most people who do “start” haven’t really committed themselves to it!

When you decide to start on a project do you go through with it regardless of obstacles, or do you break down in frustration and quit? I was constantly in a state of fear and worry, but then I finally had enough of going nowhere with my business and said to myself, “FORGET IT! I’m either going to do this or quit!” And that’s the point in life when everything changed for me. I decided to eliminate the worry because I’ve already committed myself. No longer did I fear (or care about) other people’s criticism

Why should I care what other people think when I know the rich possibilities of internet marketing? Besides most of the people I know are working for wages - so what do they know about opportunity?

Now I am free from most of my self doubts and worry. I am free to truly commit myself to my internet business and to my own future. As the great Yoda from Star Wars said, “Do or don’t do, there is no try!”

3- Systematic and not individualistic support: Most affiliate programs depend on the sponsor support for their team. This system is very weak. This means if the sponsor is away, ill, vacationing or for any reason cannot and would not answer the support questions, the sponsored team is lost and cannot proceed with their business. The affiliate program that you should be looking for must have the following support levels:

a. Sponsor Support

b. High traffic and high quality forum especially dedicated for the particular affiliate program you are thinking of promoting

c. Help Desk

With this system a person might not even need a sponsor support.

I have heard many recommend having a mentor that will be able to teach all the ins and outs of online marketing. I completely agree with them, but would not include it in the above criteria. The above criteria are recommended so that a person can examine any affiliate program against. Thus, they will facilitate for anyone the decision making process for choosing an affiliate program to work with. Therefore, a mentor is not a must have in affiliate program for the newbie. Still, I would highly recommend searching for and getting a mentor, as a mentor can act in many dimensions especially on the motivational and technical aspects.
