Hurricanes and Internet Security Issues

Hurricanes and Internet Security Issues are something that is very much on the mind of FEMA these days and they are calling it a potentially devastating electronic disaster or even a; Cyber Katrina if you will?

How serious is this? Well consider floods in the basements of half of the agencies in Washington DC or consider flooding in NYC or Boston underground taking out major Internet Infrastructures and routing points.

We already know that when this happens chaos ensues for local businesses. Now imagine that something like this happened in Los Angeles or the Bay Area due to an Earthquake and then the next thing you know a Hurricane Storm surge and then flooding does the same thing to the Northeast? See Ya, Internet and that is the scenario that they are calling a Cyber Katrina so you can see how Hurricanes and Internet Security Issues go together?

What can we do to protect ourselves from such a disaster by Mother Nature or even a Cyber 911? Well this is something that is now concerning Department of Homeland Security these days and it is an issue that must be addressed and one we must prepare for as a nation.

So what is currently being done these days? Nothing, absolutely notion, so are you scared yet? Well, perhaps not shaking in your shoes, nevertheless are you prepared for a Cyber Katrina or a Cyber 911? Consider all this in 2006.

Information Security Systems

The old order changeth, yielding way for the new. This adage especially holds true when you consider the latest advances in technology and the way they have changed modern business practices, and also the socio-economic fabric of countries. The Internet has made the transmission of vital information and data possible in a matter of seconds, and this has revolutionized the functioning of various organizations.

Yet these techniques have ushered in major responsibilities also. The first and foremost is to protect data against leakage. Though IT experts are on their toes devising all possible means to ensure one-hundred-percent security, hackers still manage to breach it. Sometimes, the lapses occur due to the negligence of the employees of an organization. The lapses can be either due to carelessness, or they may even be intentional. Whichever the case, it is important that the organizations should take steps to ensure that there is no breach in their security systems. There are many ways to ensure this.

First of all, before introducing a new technology, the organizations should conduct a test-run to ensure that there are no lapses when the technology is actually put into practice. The employees who would handle data transmission work should be adequately trained so that there is no negligence on their part. Also, technologies keep getting upgraded. This means that the organizations also need to ensure regular training for their employees.

People receive spam in their email boxes. These mails contain viruses that may affect the computer system or break through its security. You need to install firewalls and anti-virus systems, and keep upgrading them regularly. Anti-virus software like Norton Anti-Virus can be updated regularly, and helps to protect against these viruses. Also, avoid opening emails that seem to have come from suspicious sources. The best option is to delete them.

The Pros And Cons Of Internet Shopping - A Guide For Individuals And Businesses

Too good to be true?

The pros and cons of internet trading, a brief guide by Ed Baker.

A new market has emerged.

It is now commonly known that the last five years has seen an unprecedented rise in internet shopping, both in terms of commercial sales and private transactions. The online retail giant Amazon, who began life selling books, reported a 20% hike in sales in the first quarter of this year, to the tune of $2.28 billion. On average in the UK, 2.5% of household spending is now online, and this figure is rising.

The phenomenon of search – the internets’ ability to deliver potential answers to our infinite questions – has been the key benefit to the online trader. Search engines bring the market to the marketplace. Increasingly, they are being paid to do it. Google’s AdWords program accounted for over 30% of its income last year, as it promises to deliver targeted “traffic” to online business. One cannot perform a search nowadays, it seems, without happening upon a sponsored result near the top of that little green column to the right of your screen that says, “get cheap ‘*******’ on ebay, buy it now for ‘£***!’”

A new market brings new challenges.

So it is that ebay has become the prominent location for people to buy and sell their wares online. Implicitly transferring Harrods’ “anything from a pin to an elephant” claim to the ether, the buyer is assured that he will be able to find literally anything for sale in the auction sites’ vast virtual stockroom. It is this very vastness however that has begun to spell trouble for the company, and its consumers.

The lack of human interaction, guarantees, a bricks-and-mortar existence, and the absence of strict and comprehensive regulations have allowed unscrupulous dealers to flourish online, particularly on the larger auction sites. People create an identity, advertise a product they may not even have, collect the money and simply vanish. More disturbingly, sophisticated criminals are now able to use sensitive credit card information from other online consumers to assume identities and buy goods. Witness the recent case of Terrill D Johnson of Ilyssa Way Ohio, who used credit card receipts to obtain $18000 worth of merchandise through Amazon.

The global nature of ebay has brought its own pitfalls. Many buyers and sellers are not aware of the cultural or legal differences governing trade outside the borders, with the result that buyers foot huge premiums for the processing of foreign orders and often end up empty-handed if they unwittingly attempt to purchase something prohibited in their country.

One of the common misconceptions about ebay is that if the seller has lots of feedback, the majority of it positive, they are a safer prospect. Recent studies have shown this is simply not true. Satisfied buyers on the whole don’t bother to leave feedback, they just get on with enjoying whatever they bought, hence the presence of a dialogue between buyer and seller can often indicate some problem or lack of clarity somewhere in the transaction.

In April of this year I attended a market research evening for ebay, run by the company Saros, who source everyday consumers to give detailed information and constructive criticism about a particular product or service. The three hour session focused entirely on buyer security, indicating that ebay has recognised the widely-held view that its’ site favours the seller and affords inadequate protection to the prospective buyer.

A new marketing model emerges

The experience shed light on an interesting concept that I believe some businesses are already developing, and more and more will need to devote time to – that of the “user journey”. While the existing benefits of the internet were identified and appreciated at the session; the ability to browse, compare, search and research, and the lack of overheads driving down prices, one thing became clear: people want an end-to-end experience. This means they want satisfaction from the first – confirmation emails, detailed tracking of delivery, fast shipping, reliable handling, guarantees, human and helpful customer service, a check-back and continuing support from the business. These comments applied not just to ebay of course, but to the thousands of other online businesses that provide goods and services to shoppers everyday.

The issue of shopper security has become so important that the Office of Fair Trading commissioned a study in 2004, scheduled to mature in 2007, which will examine awareness amongst shoppers and traders. It will look closely at whether businesses are aware of regulations, and whether individuals are aware of their rights. Did you know, for example, that as consumers we are entitled to a “cooling off period” of 7 days, within which we can expect a refund if we are not satisfied? Try telling that to the bloke you just bought a dodgy Ford Sierra from over ebay last week.

The advice is simple – do your homework. The internet is the single greatest resource for an individual to research a given topic. Spend some time comparing prices, services and market value. You can use www.BizRate.com to check ratings of vendors posted by their customers, and you can read independent reviews of products before you buy at www.cnet.com. Examine the companies carefully – are there any hidden costs? How do they make their money? Honest businesses will be upfront about commission and delivery charges. They should also have an address or at least phone number, preferably toll-free, where you can talk to a customer service representative for your own peace of mind. A money back guarantee is a must if you can get it, and if buying from an individual, find out as much as you can – do they have a number or email address? Strike up a dialogue and don’t buy blind!

Trust – the key to success.

As a seller, all of the above must be taken into account, with one concept at the front of your mind – trust. Businesses especially must strive to build trust into their reputation. They must meet the needs of the consumer in providing a real physical identity to back up their online presence –the website is not enough. Be open, be honest, keep it simple. It is better to specialise in one type of product or service than to have a free-for-all; imagine how impossible it must be to police ebay and how confusing it is to a first-time buyer.

For variety and value, not to mention freedom from the old-fashioned “hard-sell”, the internet is becoming the number one choice for today’s consumer, and it is beginning to produce its own code of business practice. For companies in particular, the goal must be to set new standards of service with a simple, clear, guaranteed and reliable service, underwritten by an accountable, human presence offline.

Making Your Living With Internet Marketing

Many people would like to give up their job and tell their boss where to go.

We have probably all had bad jobs at one time or another, all had terrible bosses who underpaid and overworked us. Perhaps you are in one right now?

Would it not be wonderful to set our own hours and make an income we feel we deserve?

Well the good news is, we can. Internet marketing gives you, me, and anybody else who desires it, a substantial income working from home, with low start up costs and no boss to worry bout.

It really is that easy. With perseverance, patience and willingness to learn, with the ability to muster our own motivation, everybody can succeed online and make a very comfortable income online.

This opportunity did not exist ten years ago. Now it does, it is vital to take advantage of it now, while it is still in the early stages. Getting into something early has always rewarded those who did. And over the next ten years I would only expect the numbers of people living on an income online to triple and more.

There are so many choices of how to make this income. Whether it is contextual advertising (Google Adsense), or selling a product you created, to selling a product or service that other people created, there are so many ways to make an income with Internet Marketing.

All that is required is taking the time and effort to learn this often mistakenly complicated skill.

In reality it is not really all that complex at all.

Once you can negotiate all the misinformation and information flood that is out there. And overcome the fantastic promises made by so many people that you can make a huge income online with no effort and no money.

Obviously you must be able to accept responsibility for your own income. For the one positive aspect a regular paycheck does give is security. So, without a boss and working for someone else, you lose that security.

However, usually the paycheck does not increase much over time, even with promotions. Whereas, with internet marketing, your income really only depends upon time and effort.

Hispanic Internet Marketing

What is Hispanic Internet Marketing? Internet marketing geared specifically towards the growing Hispanic community in the United States and in Latin America as well.

Why should you work to reach the Hispanic Market on the internet? You’d be crazy not to!
The number of U.S. Hispanic Internet users is expected to hit 20.9 million by 2010, with growth driven primarily by Hispanic youth, according to a new report from eMarketer.
By 2010, there will be 3.3 million U.S. Hispanic Internet users - between 3 and 17 years old, 4 million between 18 and 24, and 4.8 million 25 to 34, eMarketer estimated.

In order to remain competitive, companies must gain a real understanding of the Hispanic consumer experience and purchase orientations.

Who should be participating in Hispanic internet marketing ?

1. US Hispanic companies targeting US Hispanics
2. US American companies targeting US Hispanics
3. Both US Hispanic and American companies targeting Latin America as well as their own markets
4. Latin American companies targeting their own markets
5. Latin American companies targeting all markets that include both Latin American, US Hispanic and American markets

How does NetKlik help you to reach Hispanic Internet users? There are two primary strategies for targeting the US Hispanic market through the search engines:

1. Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and
2. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

We work closely with you to assist you in the best possible way on how to exploit the growing search engine market.

Our starting point is the keyword research. We provide you with a questionnaire, which is used as the basis for the keyword research. At the end of the process we provide you with a list of relevant keywords that you can use for your SEO campaign or PPC.

Our keyword research is based on actual keyword phrases being used throughout the Internet. You see, every time you type a keyword phrase into a search engine, that keyword phrase gets recorded. There are several programs available to webmasters so that we can obtain these keyword phrases. The results of this research is that we come up with a list of relevant keyword phrases that are being used by Internet Users.

Since Internet Users are “hunting” for your website, it’s important that you have on your website the words they are using in the “hunt”!

This process is known as search engine optimization (SEO), and the results provide a client with much greater business opportunities that translate into better return on investment.

5 More Free Internet Advertising Methods

Advertising is a tough sell for new businesses. You may have some big aspirations for your internet business, but if you can't get the word out about what you have to offer, your dreams will never become reality. In my article "5 Free Internet Advertising Methods," I listed five basic ways to market your website with no capital needed. However, if you really want to be a successful online business owner, you will need to go beyond the basics. So now that you have mastered the first five, here are five more tips for free advertising online:

Forums and Bulletin Boards -- Many small business owners overlook this great resource for promoting their websites. Find boards and forums that cater to the demographic of your clientele. Post regularly on these sites. Remember that you are not allowed to promote directly in your post, and read the forum's guidelines before you sign up. These are great places to demonstrate your expertise or offer tips related to your industry. And while you can't promote your site in the text of your post, you can use your signature to include your web address and even a link to your viral marketing product. See "5 Free Internet Advertising Methods" for more on viral marketing.

Article Distribution -- If you are a writer, get busy writing articles with your customer base in mind. If you aren't a writer, invest in a professional freelancer to help you with some quality articles. You want to set yourself up as a professional, an expert that people can turn to for solid advice in the future. Search the web for article distribution sites and submit your work. Use the signature portion of the article to promote your website and to describe your expertise or quality products.

Article Swapping -- Too many business owners fear the competition and don't post articles written by others on their newsletters or blogs. This is a mistake. People like reciprocation. If you post the article of an expert in patio furniture on your gardening newsletter, the patio furniture expert is likely to do the same for you.

Cross Promotion -- Because online marketing can be so intimidating, many small business owners choose to partner with one another. Investigate partnering with related websites in order to promote your services in exchange for a promotion for their product on your website. Consider advertising another brand in your newsletter and asking the brand owner to promote the newsletter on his or her website.

Online Networking -- The popularity of online networking sites is growing rapidly. There are so many opportunities today that you would be crazy not to sign up for at least one and see what happens. Search the web for networking in your industry. Once you join, try establishing partnerships for article swapping, cross promotion, and even job leads.

Internet and Network Marketing The Virtue of the Angry Customer

First of all, I want to make sure you understand that I don't advocate making a customer mad just so you can get some good out of it, or practice what I am going to talk about. In fact, if you have kept all your customers happy, you don't need to worry about it. Just move on to something else. But before you go, let me ask you if you think your customers and potential customers are not angry? Better yet, do you know for sure? One thing is for certain. When we create an angry customer, we don't want to have to assume that customer is lost to us forever.

Second, I have written this article using the term "network marketing". In today's web based world, most internet businesses are essentially high-speed, international and can easily use most network marketing models. Hence, most of the guidance in this article will apply to both areas. Even more, most information in this article could apply to almost any business, even the brick-and-mortar sort.

WHY DOES YOUR BUSINESS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ANGRY CUSTOMER?

Sometimes, we all screw up and wind up with an angry customer. We are going to talk about the results of this and some ways you can turn this into a positive situation, or at least get something positive out of this negative situation.

The obvious goal of network marketing is to have happy, satisfied customers because these are the people we rely on to help build our business. In addition to being repeat customers, which means more income for us, satisfied customers are the best advertising tool those of us in network marketing or internet marketing or any other marketing can hope for!

If, however, we create an angry customer, not only have we lost this sale and future sales from this one customer, but we may now possibly have a very motivated negative networker marketing against us. Truly, if the heart of network marketing success rests on the passionate word-of-mouth advertising activities of our satisfied customers, just imagine the impact of even a small group of unsatisfied customers as they passionately spread their negative message about your business in particular and network marketing in general.

TURNING THE DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER AROUND

Things happen, and sometimes they are not positive. Many of these events are simply beyond your control, but the customer will not see it that way. All the customer knows and feels is that you, your business, product, service, or opportunity has failed him or her. You can bet most of them will NOT see this as an accident.

Without a doubt, the best first step you can take at this time is to immediately contact the customer, find out what the problem is, or is perceived to be, and assure them that you will make the situation good. There is a small problem here. We don't always know who these people are.

COMPLAINING CUSTOMERS ARE VALUABLE TO YOUR BUSINESS, BUT...

A study by the Strategic Planning Institute of Cambridge, Pennsylvania, found that the average business NEVER HEARS FROM 96% OF ITS UNHAPPY CUSTOMERS. If something is driving customers away from your network or internet business, you need to know about it! Since dissatisfied customers leave no trace, you must actively strive to create that trace so that you can take steps to change the situation which caused the problem. This will allow you to make more satisfied customers than you would have and will help you prevent negative marketing which may be targeted at your business.

You must actively encourage your customers, website visitors, and/or prospects to complain, and you need to provide a means for them to do this.

You might provide email links, or response cards for these complaints. You can follow up with ALL customers by email, letter, and phone call or in person to find out what their experiences were. If the were dissatisfied, this last purchase might really be their LAST! Find out if they were satisfied with the services, procedures, personnel, information, or any other aspect of the experience.

SAY, "I AM SORRY!"

If they had a problem, the first thing you do is say, "I'm sorry!" and mean it. Do not argue, but do show your willingness to find a solution. Get the facts and resolve the issue as rapidly as possible. Assure the customer that you are grateful for their information, and as soon as the problem is resolved, let the customer know. Be honest and straightforward, and do not sugar coat the truth.

Studies have shown the speed with which the customer is contacted and the speed with which the issue is resolved has a direct bearing on the chances of retaining the customer and stopping negative repercussions.

WHY GO TO THIS TROUBLE TO SAVE THE DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER?

The study mentioned earlier which was conducted by the Strategic Planning Institute of Cambridge found two critically important pieces of information:

* 70% of customers who DO complain WILL do business again with a company which resolves the complaint.

* 95% of customers who DO complain WILL do business again with a company which resolves the complaint QUICKLY!

You work so hard to find the customers you DO get and keep. Can you imagine the possible boost to the bottom line of your network business or internet marketing business if you could catch that 95% and turn them back into loyal, satisfied customers?

RECOMMENDATION

Try to find the customers and even potential customers, ask for their negative comments and complaints, and immediately take action to resolve their issues. You may just add a new dimension of growth to your network business or internet business for a relatively small additional cost!

You have expended vast amounts of time, effort and money to invite a customer to your store, website, or presentation. That is the hardest and most expensive part of the marketing process for any business. Relatively speaking, turning a dissatisfied customer into a satisfied one is almost without any real additional cost. This one simple strategy, however can increase immediate and future sales and produce some of the most effective word-of-mouth advertising you can have. Quite often the customer who feels that they have been treated well and fairly in a difficult situation will be more likely to sing your praises than the one who had a totally uneventful experience.

Article Submission Versus Hosted Marketing Pages An Internet Marketing Comparison

The quest for high search engine rankings (and the traffic that comes along with them) has spawned some new search engine optimization techniques of late, two of them being article submission and hosted marketing pages. Although these techniques are similar in appearance, each has advantages and disadvantages. Before we delve into the heart of the issue, a couple of definitions are in order for newcomers to the internet marketing realm.

Submitting articles requires quite a bit of unpleasant work. First you have to be an expert about your chosen subject (or have the ability to fool others into believing you’re an expert). Next you must be able to write about your subject in at least a coherent manner. Then you must find article directories in which to submit your work, giving them and any possible viewers the authority to freely copy and distribute your creation.

A hosted marketing page is a cross between purchasing a one way link from a website and submitting an article to a directory. The website in question allows you to purchase a complete page from their site along with a professionally written article that has multiple one-way links to your site.

The main advantages to both techniques are the SEO-friendly links. Whether you submit your article to a directory or purchase a hosted marketing page, you will get one-way links pointing to your site. Because search engines love one-way links, your website will undoubtedly receive a boost in your search engine ranking. But, the biggest boost will come from links using keywords relevant to your site coming from pages written about a subject relevant to your site.

Here’s something you should remember. In most cases, a hosted marketing page text link from a relevant, high PR website will be much more important to the search engines than a text link from a posted article in a directory. But, if you’re a talented enough author to have your writing approved, it may show up in several directories as well as multiple authority sites. This influx of links could potentially outweigh the few links from a single hosted marketing page.

The disadvantages are pretty obvious. Writing and submitting articles, although free, can consume a considerable amount of time, especially if you are not comfortable writing professionally. On the other hand, purchasing a professionally written hosted marketing page can be very expensive. You should be prepared to shell out anywhere from fifty dollars to several hundred dollars per month, depending on the popularity of the site.

Here’s the bottom line. If you have little time, little writing skill, and a large marketing budget, hosting marketing pages would be most beneficial to you. However, if you have some free time, some copywriting experience, and little to no advertising dollars, writing and submitting articles to article directories would be most beneficial to you.

How 5 Easy Tactics Can Seriously Boost Your Website Sales

The art of turning website visitors into paying customers depends almost entirely on good sales copy. What is that?

Simply put good sales copy is the content of your copy and presentation of your copy put together in such a way that it increases your visitor to sale conversion rate on a consistent basis.

It's an ongoing process in which you will always try to beat your "control". Beating the control is marketing lingo for engaging in a never ending process of constant improvement to your sales copy in order to beat your last highest visitor to sale conversion rate. The more you practice this the more money you will make!

This article will give you 5 quick tactics to get you started in playing your own game of "beat the control" which in turn will put you on the road to higher sales conversion and more money in your pocket.

Tactic #1 - Know your numbers

I am always surprised when I speak with clients who wish to increase their sales from their websites and when I ask them how many visitors they are getting per month, how many sales per visitor, average unit of sale, etc they don't know. You must be able to measure results and that begins with knowing where you are at currently. Below are the most important factors you need to be tracking ...

How many unique visitors do you get per month. This is not the same as "hits". Most hosting companies provide a stats package that you can log into and see how many unique visitors you get each month. If they don't I suggest switching to a hosting company that does.

How many sales do you get per 100 visitors. This gives you your conversion rate in percent. The average according to shop.org is around 1.8-2% or roughly 2 sales for each 100 visitors. I have found that this number can be dramatically improved by making even the smallest changes to your website copy and or layout.

What is your average sale price. Take all your online sales each month add them up then divide by the number of sales.

Tactic #2 - Move the big guns up to the front.

Statistics show that you have about 10 seconds to entice a website visitor to go deeper into your site before they click the back button and forget you ever existed. Remember that your online prospects are looking for information to solve their problem and if they don't see anything on your homepage immediately upon arriving that leads them to believe that you understand their problem you lose.

You must greet your visitors with a large headline that says something to the effect of "we know what your problem is and we can fix it better than anyone else - here's why...". Then in your copy give them as many reasons as possible as to why your company is the better choice out of all your competitors. Give them testimonials, and other kinds of proof that you or your product gets results.

Tactic #3 - Use simple language.

Speaking to your online prospects in a conversational tone increases conversion rates. Avoid the tendency to try to sound professional using corporate sounding gibber jabber. Remember these are real people and they respond to real language being spoken by a real person. Be authentic and forget about what your competitors are doing. Find your own voice and I guarantee that more of your prospects will respond to that than to the same old tired impersonal ivory tower cliches.

Tactic #4 - Put the emphasis on what you can do for them

A lot of businesses make the mistake in thinking that potential customers actually care how long they have been in business or how much they say they value customer service and so on. Avoid platitudes like the plague - consumers are immune to them now. Your copy needs to be written in terms of not how special you think your company is but in how good you are at solving problem x for the visitor and then back it up with all the proof you can find. Try using the word "You" more often than the word "We".

Tactic #5 - Lead your visitors to the call to action.

So if you have done a great job at enticing the prospect to keep clicking deeper into your site from the homepage with a compelling headline and copy that speaks to the prospects problem and the rest of your website copy does a good job of convincing the visitor that you are the obvious choice to do business with your job is still not done. You need to ask for the sale or lead the prospect to the call to action. At the end of any page of copy or maybe even within the main body of your content you need to tell them to buy your product or contact you today! If it's not a high priced item or service this is all that is required but if you are selling something over $100 you might need to break your sales process into small steps by offering the visitor a free report or free trial or sample of your product or service just to get them into your sales cycle. Make it easy for them to build a relationship with you and give them a good incentive to do so.

The copy on your website sells your product or service. The website itself and the graphics are their to support the copy. The copy needs to be easy to read (break it up with headers, short paragraphs and bulleted lists) use conversational language, give the visitor substantial reasons to do business with you as soon as possible on the homepage.

Try different headlines and free offers. Keep track of your conversions and see what's working and what doesn't. There is always a better formula that will make you more money and by beginning the process of searching for that formula you will be gaining a significant advantage over your competition.

Turn Your Small Business Website into a Marketing Machine!

It is surprising to see how many Websites are just informational in nature or seem to exist solely for company status. Some companies still view their Website as nothing more than an online brochure. If your company is one of these, you are foregoing an extraordinary marketing opportunity.

Big corporations especially are prone to positioning themselves on the Internet with Websites that are more about “flag waving” than generating new business. Unfortunately, many small and medium-sized companies have mimicked this approach as well.

Your Website is your company’s window to a worldwide market. It is more than just a vehicle to distribute information or automate administrative tasks. Correctly exploited, a company Website can become its primary marketing tool, generating new business around the clock.

Here is a simple checklist of activities you should be conducting on your company Website:

# Marketing your products or services online, offering incentives and e-commerce for transacting sales.
# Building an opt-in email list by offering a free newsletter subscription, free trials, whitepapers, ebook or other meaningful incentives. Email marketing costs only fraction of traditional marketing methods and opens a direct marketing channel to qualified buyers.
# Adding downloadable marketing materials that prospects can print out.
# Posting press releases, testimonials, awards, management team overviews and other materials that enhance company credibility in the eyes of your target markets.
# Recruiting dealers and affiliates to broaden your marketing channels.
# Establishing strategic partnerships with complementary (but not competitive) vendors that drive more qualified traffic to your site
# Optimizing your site for search engines so that it bubbles up on the first page or so when someone enters germane keywords. This is much cheaper than pay-per-click advertising and has more credibility within the online community.
# Investing in online press releases that include a link back to your site. These marketing vehicles receive widespread distribution and live forever.
# Creating a business blog with links back to your site. Be sure to submit it to the growing number of blog directories.
# Writing articles (like this one) that gain widespread distribution through free online submission sites. Of course, include a link back to your site. You can even set up your own RSS feed that is submitted to hundreds of directories, driving interested readers to your site.

When all is said and done, your Website is a marketing machine. Visitors must be able to quickly find what they are seeking and should be guided to the results or actions you wish them to take. If you embrace this perspective and diligently apply the marketing techniques outlined above, your company will be blessed with increasing sales and steady growth.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Using Digital Products With Resale Rights

Failure to comply with the resale rights granted by the seller is illegal and can prove to be very costly. An additional complication is that some sellers place a different interpretation on the meaning of certain categories of resale rights. The only way to be sure you comply is to read the fine print very carefully.

All resale rights products should be supplied with a text file containing the specific rights that the seller is granting. You also need to be aware of some of the most common pitfalls that face users of resale rights products.

Restrictions On The Use Of Resale Rights Products

Read the restrictions placed by originator of the product on your rights to use and sell the product. Some of the more common restrictions include:

* You may not be allowed to give it away.

* Can’t sell the product from auction or membership sites.

* May not be sold as a package with other products.

* No alterations can be made to the product.

* The product may not be broken up and sold in parts.

* Resale rights may not be passed on when re-sold.

Common Types Of Resale Rights

* Resale Rights – Products that can be sold by the person having resale rights, but the purchaser may not resell the product.

* Master Resale Rights – Resale rights can be passed on from one purchaser to another.

* Private Label Rights – You can do anything you like with the product itself. e.g. change it, break it into parts, claim to be the author, give it away (PLR products do not automatically have master resale rights)

The above definitions are only intended as a rough guide to give you an idea of the terminology used and you should always read the fine print supplied with your products to ensure that you fully understand what rights you have been granted.

Essential Facts About Using Resale Rights Products

* Could be lots of competition as many others are selling the same product

* Competitors selling at cut prices can ruin your profit opportunities

* The market can already be saturated before you get started

* Avoid products that have flooded the market and try and find ones that have limited distribution

* Combine with other products to create your own unique package

* Customize the supplied mini-site to make it your own unique product

Although there are some serious drawbacks, selling resale rights products is still a viable proposition, as most of the problems can be overcome. The first thing you need to do is get some help in the form of step by step instructions and coaching videos designed specifically for newbies.

Internet Business Marketing Tip People Do Business With People They Trust

Here’s another internet business marketing tip. People do business with people they, know, like, and trust. It’s a common fact that people are more likely to purchase from people or companies that they are familiar with. Think about how when people go on vacation in another country they still go to McDonald’s even when there are hundreds of other options they have never heard of and quite possibly serving better tasting food.

The reason that they choose McDonald’s is because they are comfortable with McDonald’s. McDonald’s is something they are familiar with. They know that if they go into McDonald’s they have a fairly good idea of what their going to get and they are okay with that. On the flip side they are not sure what they are going to get with the restaurant they never heard of even though the food might be that much better. For some they would rather not take the risk and just play it safe by heading on into Mickey D’s.

The same psychology can be transferred online to your business. How familiar are people with you online. Have you developed a reputation online and are your customers comfortable and familiar with you? Do they trust you?

There are many ways to start developing this familiarity with you customers. One of the most popular ways is to write articles and submit them to article databases. As people read more and more of your views and insights they will become more comfortable and open to making a purchase from you.

Another way to develop trust with your customers is to offer a newsletter. Offering a newsletter allows you to stay in contact with your customers and offers additional exposure. This strategy again will cause them to open up a little bit more each time they hear from you and hopefully result in more sales for your business.

These are just some ways that you can go about developing trust with your customers online. Start building it today, trying to help your customers as much as you can and it will ultimately come back to you and your business.

3 Reasons You Need a Mailing List

If you have been around internet marketing for very long you have undoubtedly heard the phrase, "The money is in the list." But there is a big difference between knowing this and knowing why the money is in your list. Here are 3 eye-opening reasons that you need a mailing list, and you need to start today!

#1: To really succeed online, you should create your own products to sell and/or giveaway. These products in themselves can be a great way to build your lists if you create them right. If you create them wrong, however, you may never know how many subscribers you missed out on.

If you have your own ezine or mailing list built when you get done creating a new product, you immediately have a targeted audience to sell it to. As long as you keep your products themed the same as your ezine you will always have a pool of potential buyers that you can access immediately for no cost.

#2: If you don't have any products of your own and don't plan on creating any products yourself, building a mailing list is the only other way to make it on the internet. By having a large number of targeted prospects that trust you and like you, you have tremendous power.

All you need to do is find some great affiliate programs to join and promote. Be sure to use and review the products before you recommend them! You don't want to destroy your reputation and integrity by recommending bad products just to earn a couple bucks.

There are many marketers who make a great income just by promoting other people's products. However, if you do this part AND create your own products you will be even better off.

#3: The third reason to have your own mailing list may not seem the most important or profitable, but it will make a huge difference in your online future if you do it right. Having your own mailing list gives you the opportunity to prove your credibility to your subscribers. Doing this creates a snowball effect in which eventually the whole world of internet marketing will know your name and trust your recommendations.

If you don't think this would help you, think about all the top marketers you have heard of. Now, would you buy something based on their recommendation? I have bought products based on this fact alone! It is extremely powerful to have name recognition and trust. In the long term, the amount of success you have will be determined by the amount of people who know that you’re a professional and respect you. So start small, with your own mailing list.

These three reasons are just a fraction of what you can learn in the new ebook Max List Profits. Everything is laid out in an easy plan to build a list that will make you the kind of money you're looking for.

Email Management Made Easy

Work-at-home moms know how important time management is in running a successful business. Often they need help with daily operational procedures and learning how to make the most of their time. Here are some tips to help you run your business more successfully.

Organize your email in color!

If you use Outlook or even Outlook Express, use color to organize your email. I have a visual personality so sorting by color organizes me quicker and without much thought involved on my part so it works for me. Maybe it will for you too!

I have all my clients email headers in red, my personal email from friends in green, family gets blue, e-lists get purple and the vendor email is brown. This way I can easily scan priority email every morning. It also makes the spam stick out since I leave this black and can scan through it easier to click and delete.

So how do I color my headers in my email box? The first thing you need to do is to select a message from the person you want all messages color highlighted.

Next you're looking for the Organize button located on the Standard toolbar. (You can also find Organize in the Tools menu). The Organize feature will open at the top of your mailbox.

On the left you should find the "Using Colors" option. Click it. The statement in this feature is simple enough.

By default it is trying to color messages "from" someone and the senders name from the highlighted message is already filled in, so... all you have to do is to pick a color from the drop down list at the end.

Click the Apply Color button and never overlook an email from that person again.

Another tip from Diana Ennen of Virtual Word Publishing, http://www.virtualwordpublishing.com is:

Get into the habit of scheduling a certain time of day to read your e-mails. Don’t keep your e-mail box open and check constantly throughout the day. When you do, your Outlook owns you. You will find you will accomplish so much more when you do this. A simple just send a quick e-mail can turn into valuable work time being wasted. Let your clients know when you routinely answer your mail and then they will be used to hearing back from you at that time.

For those work-at-home moms, time is of the essence. As successful virtual assistants, we know that we can better do our work for our clients globally if we successfully handle all aspects of our business in the most time effective manner.

6 Profit Centers You Must Have In Your Mailing List

Did you know that you can actually make money while you build your list? Yes, it's possible and it doesn't even take that much work. You just need the knowledge and will to do it. Here are 3 of the 6 profit centers that you need to have in your system to get to your full earning potential. Look below to see the final 3.

Profit Center #1: One Time Offer

When someone first subscribes to your ezine to get a copy of your free viral report, the very next page they should see is a One Time Offer. This is an offer (product/service) that is only offered to the prospect one time. It must have a discounted price, or be piled high with bonuses to give it extra value. A quality product coupled with a great sales page lets you cash in as your list just starts to grow.

Profit Center #2: Advertisements/Recommendations in your free viral report

Giving something away for free is a great way to prove your credibility and entice people to join your ezine. The information must be of value to your target prospects to be effective. In your free report, include affiliate programs and products that you have used and enjoyed. Never recommend something you've never tried and wouldn't suggest to a close friend. Your credibility and integrity is worth more than a few bucks.

Profit Center #3: Back Links in your Thank You Page

After subscribing to your ezine and viewing the one-time-offer, your prospect will be taken to a "Thank You Page" thanking them for their interest. In your Thank You Page you notify your subscriber that a confirmation email has been sent with a link to the report. While they are waiting for the email, they can browse the links you have provided.

Overwhelmed by the Daily Deluge of E-mail?

Part of being an effective marketer is being an effective time manager. The little time suckers in our workday can collectively add up to a LOT of time taken away from our core functions and billable work. One of the biggest time drainer is our In-Box.

Tame your e-mail beast by mastering the art of email management. This will reduce your stress, streamline your workflow, and improve your efficiency. Here are some strategies you can implement:

1. Avoid Constant Interruptions: Turn off your auto send/receive or set it to a reasonable timeframe, like every hour or two. Some people find they are most productive at certain times of the day - like early morning. If this is true for you, regularly block out that chunk time and DON'T check your e-mails until afterwards. You will be amazed at what a huge difference this one change will make in your workday.

2. Respond with Brevity: If possible, reply with an action-oriented 1-2 line response. Always keep your messages under 10 sentences. Communicate your main point in the first sentence or two. Then delete or file the email, and get back to work!

3. Use Proper Grammar: Do NOT bypass standard grammar and punctuation. Create a well-written message. It will save your recipient time, as well.

4. Break Up Topics: Use separate paragraphs or bulleted lists when possible to save time for your reader. Get in the habit of doing this and people will tend to respond in kind. It saves time when you can scan lists quickly.

5. Use the Subject Line: Make sure you are very descriptive in the subject line. Or, use the subject line for the entire message: Meet 10:00, 5/30 Ok? You can establish agreements within your office to use codes in the subject line like NT for No Text and NRN for No Reply Needed.

6. Don’t Break for E-zines: If you are like me, you get a lot of professional e-zines. These are interesting and important for our continuing education. However, they can also serve as easy distractions from the task at hand. Instead of taking the time to read each one as it is received, stick them all in a folder labeled “Ezines” and reserve time each day or even each week to read them all at once.

The Danger of Email Marketing

Email is a good way to stay in touch with customers because when people come online, one of the first thing they do is check their emails. Email list is still the most valuable asset online. No wonder email volumes continue to grow. EMarketer study found that e-mail volume in the US will rise to nearly 2.7 trillion by 2007.

Keep your audience email with you. Your blog or any other facilities online should have email notification built into it. But one of the major problems online is unwanted commercial bulk email otherwise called spam. When you send bulk mail, it drains and affects the server so the authorities are after those who send unsolicited commercial bulk mail. And they have built technologies and filters that prevent bulk mails going into inbox.

After researching or developing products, you send email to a list only to discover that the subscriber never saw it because a spam blocker or filter sends your emails into a spam box or bulk folder—spam will frustrate your traffic.

What about if it is solicited? In the early days of the Internet, people willingly subscribed to mailing list but now they’ve stopped. Nobody wants ads. So it is almost impossible to get a large solicited email list. DoubleClick study found that 64.7% of all legitimate emails sent are never opened. Filters and triggers will block your emails and newsletters even if it is permission-based.

People can now identify a commercial email by merely looking at it. So if you send 10, 000 bulk emails, only about 3000 gets in, and 100 are actually opened and 40 read while the rest are deleted. Some people report email as spam and delete it even though they subscribed themselves. If you send a confirmation email so that you can know those who really want you, you will only shrink your list. You will be surprised that nobody will subscribe unless those that want to research your product or market.

And if you spam, you will get listed in spamming database. Spamming database is where email providers verify what is and is not spam. Every time you send out an email, it’s has an IP address attached to it. If your IP gets into the database: your ranking may go down, your host could de-host you, your payment processor could banned you, and you could be sending emails that are being blocked If you link to blacklisted sites, you often get blacklisted too.

To avoid getting caught in spam filters or being blocked by ISPs: don’t spam; let your subscribes add your site to their address book; some words and phrases trigger spam filters like weight, subscribe, sell, download etc. The trick is to add symbol (like an apostrophe, asterisk or dash) in the middle of words. And hope that filter doesn’t arbitrarily block you.

If you are selling something in your subject line, spam filter will likely block you. Spam and email overload have actually cut down email marketing success by about 60%. Use it only to substitute other traffic techniques.
